Graylands Hospital is a psychiatric teaching hospital for 120 adult patients. It has been accredited by the Australian Council on Healthcare Standards since 1990. The Hospital's multi-disciplinary staff provide modern mental health care to people experiencing a range of mental illnesses.
The broader Graylands Campus houses 40 Statewide Forensic and 42 Slow Stream Rehabilitation Psychiatric beds. There are also 8 Psychiatric-Medical beds at nearby Selby Lodge (inpatient unit of Selby Older Adult Psychiatric Service ).
The Hospital is a centre for research and education in pscyhiatry. The campus houses the Centre for Clinical Research in Neuropsychiatry, accredited by the World Health Organization, where experts in the field conduct cutting-edge research into mental illness. The UWA-affiliated Centre is regarded as one of the leading research centres into schizophrenia. This places the Hospital at the forefront of new research into mental illness.
